Gheluvelt Park is a fun and free place to take the kids, with a variety of things to do and see. It straddles Barbourne brook, plus it is close to the River Severn, so there is plenty of wildlife to look out for including kingfishers, mute swans, grey squirrels and more. The park also has a large pond with a number of ducks to feed.
The playground is great because it has separate areas for different age groups, which means the little ones can play at their own pace, and the older kids can be adventurous without having to worry about hurting the youngsters. It uses the latest floor surfaces and play technology, which gives kids a safe 21st century play experience! There is plenty of seating, plus a gazebo near the playground to enable adults to keep an eye on the kids while they play.
A splashpad is open daily from April to September, which is very popular with the little ones, with a number of sprinklers and streams to run through.
The park is also great for a family stroll, and you can even bring well behaved family dogs, but they will need to be kept on the lead and, as usual, you will have to clean up after them, but bins are provided.

Awesome Park for the whole family

I have lived 4 minutes walk from this park for the last 5 years, it's ranked in the top 5 in the country, it's a huge park with two main parts separated with a foot bridge over a brook that runs through the middle, there is a children's climbing & swing park & toilets at the forefront of the park which is very popular especially in the summer, then walk a little & there's a duck pond with a band stand, then next to that there is a free water feature (different types of jets that spray up) the kids can play in. There's tennis courts & a permanent ping pong table (bring your own bats & ball) & exercise machines dotted around the far side. I can't rate this park enough & whenever my family visit from Gloucestershire or Wales they all love it too. N.B. In the warm weather get here early to get a spot next to the water feature as it gets very busy!
