WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre
Slimbridge, GloucestershireAbout WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre
WWT Slimbridge Wetland Centre offers families an exciting range of close wildlife encounters. From hand feeding the world’s rarest goose to spotting 5 species of flamingo, to exploring the waterways on the Canoe Safari or adventuring out to the wider reserve by 4x4. There are many ways to experience wildlife all year round in their wetland paradise.
Throughout the year there is a programme of daily events including otter and amphibian talks, Scott House Museum tours and free-flying bird demonstrations. During the winter months there are also daily commentated wild bird feeds where visitors can experience hundreds of wild birds, including the beautiful Bewick’s swans, being fed on the floodlit Rushy Lake.
Children love Welly Boot Land to splash in the stream, change the water flow or play in the fountain. There is also a play tower at Riverlife play area with a wobbly bridge and slide. Family sensory experiences include the Wetland Heroes app and an interactive sandbox.
Nature lovers will enjoy birdwatching from one of the many bird hides and look out points across the reserve.
Free, extra activities take place during school holidays such as seasonal trails and pond dipping. Slimbridge has a large free car park for visitors.
There is a gift shop and restaurant in the visitor centre along with two kiosks in the grounds, near the play areas.
WWT Slimbridge is an award-winning accessible and inclusive tourism attraction, with wide pathways throughout and its own Changing Places Toilet.
