About The Gruffalo Trail

For your next family day out, make it an outdoor activity with a Gruffalo trail at selected Forestry England sites! You can do the Gruffalo Spotters Trail, where you set out to discover Gruffalo sculptures along your walk or a Gruffalo orienteering course. Collect your activity pack and trail map and set off on your self-led trail.

Along the way, you'll meet all your favourite and famous characters from the beloved book - The Gruffalo. You'll find their hand-crafted sculptures along the trail, as the woodland transforms Julia Donaldson and Axel Scheffler's illustrations to life. So, whether you're nature lovers, adventurous visitors, or fans of the famous book, walking along the fun family trail is the perfect outdoor adventure for your next family day out! As well as finding the sculptures, you can discover new parts of the forests, and take part in a Gruffalo challenge, finding twelve markers hidden in the deep dark woods! Your kids will be able to develop their map reading skills, and decision making while having the best of fun. It's a win-win situation.
