For your next family day out, head to the heart of Forest of Dean to Beechenhurst! It's one of Britain's oldest and largest woodlands - imagine what you can discover there!

Things To Do
Choose one of 4 family-friendly walking trails and begin your next family adventure at Beechenhurst in the beautiful Forest of Dean. Looking for a crowd-pleaser? Follow the famous Sculpture Trail to see astonishing artworks scattered amongst the trees. 

The wooden play equipment at Beechenhurst always goes down a storm with the kids. While your little adventurers are going for a ride on the pit pony, or swinging in the air on the giant bird's nest swing, you can set up at the picnic tables by the zip wire. Speaking of zip wires, there’s a Go Ape venue on-site, if you fancy a treetop adventure!

Food & Drink
If you need to re-energise after a long day of exploring, stop off at the Beechenhurst Cafe for some refreshments! Or perhaps bring a tasty picnic to enjoy wherever you are! You can even book a barbecue if you like to feast with the family!

  • There are 11 disabled parking spaces available.
  • Beechenhurst also has accessible toilets and baby-changing facilities. 
  • There is level access at the main entrance, Ranger Hatch, toilets, Beechenhurst Cafe, meeting room, Beehcenhurst Adventure Play Park and the Beechenhurst Picnic Area.
  • Some of the staff have disability awareness training.
  • There is information in large print for those who have visual impairments.

By Car
Follow tourist signs for the Forest of Dean. Take the B4226 Coleford to Cinderford road. Beechenhurst is located between the B4234 crossroads (Parkend/Lydbrook) and the Speech House Hotel.

By Public Transport
Car-free visitors are more than welcome! The forest offers free admission to those arriving by public transport or bike – plan your journey at Good Journey.

From Coleford - number 25 (stops a short walk away).

From Lydney - number 23 bus, change at Coleford to number 25 bus

Cinderford - number 25 bus.
