Attraction Information
WWT Castle Espie is home to Ireland’s largest collection of exotic and local birds, as well as loads of outdoor adventure. Wings at the ready and off you go!
Start the day with unrivalled views of Strangford Lough from the Kingfisher Kitchen - which incidentally makes yummy home cooked lunches and treats. Then take a turn around the Sustainability Trail. It’s great for helping kids understand the important issues of our time with a wetland treatment system and - ahem - compost toilet!
Kids can enjoy natural play parks and build dens, go pond dipping, balance across a rickety bridge or hop across the swamp stomp stepping stones. There’s even a zip wire to whip down. The free soft play area is a great way to give smaller chicks some time off the trail. PLUS the highlight has to be the duckery where you can learn loads and if you’re lucky, see some newborn ducklings! Also keep your eyes peeled for goldeneyes, red-breasted geese, nene and the delightfully named, Rosy Bills.
- Plenty of outdoor play including den making and pond dipping
- Unforgettable spring duckery tour.
- Follow the sustainability trail and learn about eco-friendly practices
