About Aunt Sandras Candy Factory
In 1953 the now legendary Aunt Sandra began making and selling candy in this very spot in Castlereagh Road...and it's still going today!
The whole shop has been refurbished to original 1950s style and you can book a family tour round the factory and watch candy being handmade in traditional ways by rather colourful characters.
They put a nice amount of showmanship into things that younger kids particularly will find delightful, plus there's an opportunity to get hands on and dip either marshmallows or candy floss into chocolate to eat! It doesn't come with a broom to scrape them off the ceiling once the sugar hits though, so you may want to ration that!
There are awesome Candy Workshops and Birthday Parties available for groups and gatherings too, and although they're only open to the public at the weekends you can book a group visit Monday through Friday too by calling ahead.
All in all it's a well-rounded trip, with lots to see, smell and sample, but you're certainly going to want them to bring their pocket money for the shop afterwards!
