Attraction Information
Viking Bay is a curved, sandy bay ideal for family trips, with tidal pool, deckchair hire, a range of summertime children's rides and a cool surf school beachside offering ski and belly boards! Lovely to have the choice of tucking away at one end for a peaceful and traditional beach day with swimming and sand castling, or a great spot for a bit of wet-stuff based adrenalin - and just as importantly, you can do both! Ideal for when you've got a group of kids of varying ages who will all have different beach needs.
The surf school is open from March to October and there are seasonal lifeguards available throughout the warmer months too, so you're all good for a summertime splash about. You can also rely on decent quality water as it's a 2015 Seaside Award winner too!
Immediate vicinity amenities include toilets and first aid station, then the cliff top promenade and boardwalk which are pleasant to explore with great views, but it can catch the wind so take ear muffs for small kids. Unusually there are actually beach suitable wheelchairs available to borrow, if you call the number given in advance.
Worth noting for literature fans that the area was fondly chronicled in Our English Watering Place by Charles Dickens.
