Discover our award-winning Butterfly House and Bird House and experience the sensational sights, sounds and smells of a tropical rainforest buzzing with free-flying butterflies and birds and surrounded by wonderful wildlife ponds, waterfall and lush tropical plants.
Inside our tropical houses look out for caimans, turtles, armadillos and a captivating collection of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates - see if you can spot our leaf-cutting ant colony passing by along the ant trail or our iguana's basking majestically on top of the waterfall!
Our new Butterfly House, part funded by the European Agricultural Fund for Rural Development, opened in 2023 and is a proud recipient of the BIAZA Gold Award for Horticulture 2024.
Get ready for awesome animal-led adventures every day! You won't want to miss our amazing Animal Antics show* with our spectacular free-flying birds. See them at their Macaw Kingdom enclosure alongside other magnificent birds, from owls to Odin - our amazing painting Raven!

There’s bite-sized fun for all the family when you purchase an animal feed bundle too! Feed the friendly residents of the Farm Barn along with our meerkats, porcupines and wallabies in the Wilderness Walkthrough or buy a fish feeding pot for the playful otters at Otter Springs!*
Did you know a percentage of your admission at the Tropical Butterfly House Wildlife Conservation Park goes towards helping us preserve native species across the region - so with every visit you are helping to support local wildlife too! Our 3 native conservation sites in Yorkshire, Derbyshire and Nottinghamshire cover 46.5 acres of land with a sole aim to protect and manage native habitats and species – that’s everything from butterflies and bees, flowers and insects, wild birds, mammals and even red deer!
The wildlife park is also a haven for native wildlife and is home to harvest mice and red squirrels. Keep a look out for minibeasts in our wildlife ponds and along the nature trail. Can you spot the bug hotels and bird boxes set amongst our glorious grounds, where all flowers and foliage are planted to support habitats and encourage pollinators like butterflies and bees!
Go wild in our splash zone, sandpits and play parks! Climb the Realms of Camelot, fly along the zip wire or take a ride-on car around the track! Jump on board the tractor-trailer ride, make a daring discovery on the Dino Trail and be a Dino Detective and hunt for fossils in the Dino Dig. There’s always time for free play in our playing field with table tennis and ball games and hammocks and deckchairs a plenty when you’re ready to take time out!
The fun doesn’t stop there! Whatever the weather our indoor activity centre is packed with fun things to do, from creative colouring sheets to nostalgic table-top games!
When you're feeling hungry, there’s treats for everyone at the Butterfly Café, the cool Big Red Bus or Lottie’s Coffee Lounge with its glorious outdoor seating area and stylish dining pods! You can also bring your own picnic to our indoor and outdoor picnic spots.*
And thanks to our visitors, our PURO Fairtrade coffee and tea sales here at the park have also led to the purchase and protection of over 22 acres of rainforest, that’s over 5000 trees!

Step into a tropical paradise at our award-winning Butterfly House and experience the sights, sounds and scents of a lush rainforest teeming with free-flying butterflies and spectacular tropical plants!
Inside our tropical houses you'll also encounter free-roaming and fre-flying birds, caimans, turtles, charming armadillos and a captivating collection of reptiles, amphibians and invertebrates - see if you can spot our leaf-cutting ant colony passing by along the ant trail or our iguana's basking majestically on top of the waterfall!
Our carefully cultivated tropical and hosts plants provide vital nectar, supporting the complete butterfly lifecycle and breeding and 95% of the plants we use are grown from seeds and cuttings right here on site!
This thriving biodiversity reflects a balanced, year-round tropical haven where you can learn to identify the many butterfly species fluttering around you in our daily butterfly talks!

Here at the wildlife park we love to actively support native species too - can you spot our bug hotels, wildlife ponds or one of our 150 bird boxes on site? We also are home to one of the largest populations of tree sparrow too!
