Attraction Information
Kids love castles, and even though it is mostly ruins, Conisbrough Castle has a 90ft high great white circular keep with 6 buttresses is the oldest surving of its type in England.
Constructed in 1180 AD from local limestone the tower was saved from destruction during the Civil War and today is a compelling sight to inspire your munchkins' imaginations. Great for sketching or photographing if the kids are into either...
There are some staged displays hidden away on each floor for kids to find within the keep and a 3D model of the castle located inside the visitor centre. Other features for kids include book box, activity sheets, reconstruction drawings and object handling.
You are welcome to bring a picnic to snack on in the grounds but there's also a selection of hot and cold snacks including ice cream available in the visitor centre. Ball games and kites are permitted outside so bring the stuff along, or bring the pocket money and pick up books, sweets, toys and costumes from the shop, ideal for messing about (or relaxing) on the grass with afterwards.
