Attraction Information
At Thompson Park there is a whopping great 3 acre boating lake here plus the River Brun bisects the Park, between the 2 providing habitat for many various water birds and being excellent for a spot of family fishing. There are 2 original ornamental bridges which cross the river and approximately 5km of paths in the Park, where you'll find numerous other things to enjoy!
Their sweet little railway operates on Sundays and Bank holidays April to October (weather permitting). Rides cost just £1.00 and the income is well used to support the railway, which can also be booked for children's parties!
The paddling pool is the only one in the borough and attracts large numbers of families in warm weather so time your visit well if you're not keen on a crowd. The pool is filled at weekends and school holidays between April and September on days when the weather is warm and sunny. If you want to check if the pool is full please call the Ranger Service on 01282 831053.
You can also have at the children's adventure play area and cool sandpit, plus the boating lake also welcomes model boating so be sure to bring yours along if you've got one (free but license required from office). You can also discover the sunken Italian garden, Rose garden, Beech garden and a fun little putting green, plus use the helpful Ranger's base and of course the toilets.
Public events held here include Christmas and Easter activities, brass band concerts and their annual Ranger Open Day.
