Attraction Information
Lakeside Miniature Railway runs alongside the Marine Lake on the Southport sea front that is open every weekend from Easter, and then daily between July and October.
Taking the smalls on a miniature railway is an unforgettable experience for kids and let's be honest we love it too! This 15 inch (318mm) gauge railway is representative of the many miniature pleasure railways that sprung up during the early 1900s, and have been a great family attraction ever since!
The collection of past and present locos includes the Duke of Edinburgh, Prince Charles, Golden Jubilee, Princess Anne and the rather Sodor-ish looking Jenny. There are also 4 sets of rolling stock, with each full carriage consisting of 3 rakes of articulated carriages.
There is a loco shed workshop, plus a second larger locomotive shed at the Pleasureland end of the line, and Marine Parade station at the terminus. The round trip is about 1.5km, and a lovely way to enjoy the scenery with the kids.
