Attraction Information
Hylands House and Park has plenty for the family to enjoy, with 574 acres of parkland, including recreational ancient woodland, grassland, lakes, ponds and gardens. There is also a beautifully restored country house to explore and a pretty awesome playground too!
The house, dating from 1730, has some spectacular rooms to wonder at, ranging from the exquisitely gilded Drawing Room to the sumptuously ornate Banqueting Room. There is a magnificent Grand Staircase to climb to the Repton Room on the first floor, which provides stunning views over the landscaped parkland.
Next door is the Social History Room offering a variety of exhibits to investigate. There is also a basement complete with butler's pantry and wine cellar to explore too! Refreshments are available from Hutton's Courtyard Cafe, located 50 metres from the house.
It is also home to a fabulous climbing adventure castle play area, with four metre high castle battlements with portcullis and a cool drawbridge entrance providing a regal backdrop for imaginative play and an opportunity to exhaust themselves entirely (hooray!).
A number of the pieces of playground equipment have been specifically designed with disabled children in mind so this is a wonderfully inclusive destination. These include an acoustic roller, providing musical stimulation and a cradle swing to share the thrill of whooshing through the air wNith their friends!
