Hitchin Lavender is a family-run lavender farm with stunning fields of purple blooms. You can wander through acres of lavender, enjoy the beautiful scenery, and participate in a variety of fun activities suitable for all ages. The farm is not just about lavender; it also has sunflowers, a charming café, and a farm shop!
Things To Do At Hitchin Lavender Farm
Hitchin Lavender Fields is great for a scenic, beautifully scented walk through the loveliest lavender fields with the kids. They will love the freedom to run up and down the rows of lush lavender while everyone else can go at their own pace.
With miles of lavender rows to explore, there's never a dull moment at Hitchin Lavender Fields! This is a great place for taking or drawing pictures or simply enjoying the view across the purple fields in all directions. Hitchin Lavender also offers lavender field picking; everyone is welcome to pick and take home a large bunch of lavender! Don't worry; there's plenty of lavender to pick for the whole family! Plus, you're guaranteed to snap some lovely pictures for your Insta feed!
You can also book a guide to lavender fields! Guided tours are available for groups but must be booked in advance. The farm also holds several events throughout the summer, such as Barn Dances, outdoor cinema events, and the Hitchin Festival. Make sure to check out the Barn, too. You'll find a museum and play area for kids to let off some extra steam!
Did you know there is also a Wildflower area and a Sunflower field, which are sown next to the lavender every spring? The farm also has bee hives, so watch out for them amongst the lavender.
Oh, and did we mention that your four-legged friends are also welcome to wander the fields?
Food and Drink
One of the best things about Hitchin Lavender is that it's a fantastic spot for a family picnic. Bring your own picnic blanket and find a cosy spot among the lavender fields. Enjoy your meal surrounded by the soothing scent of lavender and the vibrant colours of the countryside. There are also picnic tables available if you prefer a more structured setting.
If you don't want to bring your own food, the on-site café has you covered with a range of delicious snacks, hot food, snacks and treats, including delicious cakes! You can even have lavender ice cream—how nice does that sound? If you need a little refreshment, then you must try their bottles of lavender lemonade. There is even a selection of street food trucks on site. You'll find light lunches, sweet treats, and hot and cold drinks.
There are plenty of options for kids, too, making finding something everyone will enjoy easy.
Farm Shop
If you can't get enough purple, the farm also has an incredible shop in a converted 17th-century barn where you can buy lots of lavender themed treats and lavender items! The lavender products are made with 100% lavender oil.
