Beautiful heritage railway offering steam train rides and picnics for families at affordable prices
Families from local communities and beyond, just love our railway as it's one of the only narrow gauge railways within the M25 featuring 'Darent' our 1903 locomotive pulling our beautifully restored Devonshire open carriages. There's a lovely picnic field equipped with countryside tables and umbrellas and a grassed play area where the kids can run around freely and pretend to be a train drivers on the Kempton Flyer play train.
We are well known for our exciting special events held throughout our season
Whether it's a magical ride for our princesses and pirates on our Unicorn railway or a photo op with Dino our dinosaur train, families always book early for these special weekends. Because we're a volunteer organisation, we can keep our ticket prices affordable for families to enjoy our special events. Vampire Scream Ups and Santa Specials are particularly popular!
A great heritage story to tell!
The volunteers at the railway are also restoring and extending the railway which has a great story to tell of supplying clean drinking water to London. The railway started in the early 1900s as an industrial railway hauling coal to fire the furnaces of the giant steam engines at the now Kempton Steam Museum, next door to the railway.
