Bushy Park offers a great children's adventure playground with equipment for 2 to 10s, a large sandpit ideal for the smalls, basket swing, climbing boulders, balance beams and see saws. Plus of course beautiful surrounds for a family ramble or mini beast safari and lots of great natural wildlife to spot including kestrels, tawny owls and woodpeckers!
Bushy is the 2nd largest of the Royal Parks, lying to the north of beautiful Hampton Court Palace. The park has a distinctly rural character and houses around 320 free roaming deer, which are delightful to sit and spot though you stand no chance whatsoever of getting up close to one!
There are Red and Fallow deer so it's a nice chance for some secret schooling to learn the differences (the Fallow fellows have longer tails and come in differing shades) and brush up on your binocular skills!
You will also find the well-known Chestnut Avenue, a formal Baroque Upper Lodge Water Gardens and the beautiful Diana Fountain: all fabulous backdrops for some family photos, though it should be noted that playing in the wet elements is not permitted.
Plus, look out for their regular seasonal events, usually aimed at children or families during the holidays and including Wild Flower Talk Walks, Orienteering days and more besides. Some of these courses and events carry a modest charge, so be sure to check it out ahead of time through the link.
