1. Ancient Church to Clock Tower - 1.5 miles / 2.4 kms, steps up t othe castle make this unsuitable for buggies and wheelchairs
From the ancient Church of St Mary de Capro travel back in time at Leicester Castle’s Great Hall, before ascending its Motte. Be amazed at the Newarke Gateway, before tumbling into the delights of Castle Gardens. Gaze on ancient Roman baths, a 14th century Guildhall, and a resplendent cathedral where the remains of King Richard III are finally buried. Lastly, it’s back to the city centre and Leicester’s iconic Clock Tower.
Walk 2: Clock Tower to New Walk Museum From the 19th century Clock Tower move swiftly into the heart of Leicester's famous market, the largest covered outdoor market in Europe, where its ethnic diversity can be experienced by all. Onward now to some engaging gardens, with a vibrant fountain before the impressive Town Hall. Finally, arrive at the elegance of New Walk, a tree-lined thoroughfare, dating back over 200 years, with a museum at its end (1 mile / 1.8 kms, Wheelchair and buggy friendly).
