The Crathes Castle Garden and Estate is arguably one of the most beautiful and best preserved Castle and Tower Houses in Scotland it's also surrounded by magnificent gardens including the celebrated June border. And from the Great Hall to the Long Gallery it's a delight inside too!
You can explore the opulent rooms, examine the family portraits and learn fascinating stories like the ones family living here who had 21 children and built a new wing to accommodate them all!
Kids can take part in quizzes, explore family trails, enjoy selected hands on activities and play in the excellent adventure playground. And find out about the archaeological discovery of the world's oldest calendar, found locally!
The gardens are very pleasurable to stroll around with kids of all ages and vary enough to keep smalls entertained, from the walled garden to yew hedges and glass houses. Free garden tours with their Garden Guides are available every Wednesday afternoon at 14:00 from April through to October, so get in on one of those if you can!
