Blickling Estate has been at the heart of this Norfolk community since the sixteenth century and is famous for being built on the grounds of the childhood home of Queen Anne Boleyn, second wife of King Henry VIII.
One of the most imposing and complete country estates in Norfolk, it offers you a glimpse into the lives of those who lived here since it was built in the 1600s.
Head inside the House and imagine what it was like to live there. Open the sensory boxes to find out more about materials used in the House and what they smelt like!
Visit the RAF Oulton Museum above the Stables Cafe to see the collection of objects and documents donated by families whose relatives were stationed at Blickling Estate during the second world war.
Borrow an explorer pack from Visitor Welcome as you discover the different areas of the garden - can you find the orangery and secret garden? What fruit and vegetables are growing in the Walled Garden?
Explore the wider estate on foot or by bike (a range of family-friendly bikes are available from the cycle hire hub), to see who's buried in Norfolk's only pyramid mausoleum. Stop to build a den, look out for the wildlife that calls Blickling home, or have a picnic along the way.
The Stables and Muddy Boots cafés offer hot and cold drinks, light meals, snacks and cakes, with indoor and outdoor seating.
The Shop has kid-friendly gifts, books and pocket-money toys, as well as homeware, gardening accessories and seasonal peat-free potted plants.
Located in the Farmyard, the Second-hand Bookshop is stocked with thousands of pre-loved books. Visit the Stamp shop with for a wide range of global stamps for the avid philatelist and new collectors.
Want to stay longer? Stay in one of seven characterful holiday cottages. Packed with charm and atmosphere, and sleeping up to eight, options include a traditional thatched cottage and the iconic tower with stunning views over the parkland.
Blickling Hall
The first sight of Blickling Hall, surrounded by ancient yew hedges, delights visitors of all ages. Inside, there are sensory boxes and spotting challenges for kids to enjoy as the explore and learn about the history of this special House.
Blickling Gardens
Surrounding the house, the formal gardens are the result of three centuries of inspired planting. You'll find daffodils, bluebells and magnolias in early spring, azaleas and rhododenrons in later spring, followed by a sweeping colour palette of flowers in the Parterre over the summer month. This is also the best time to visit the Walled Garden to see it bursting with produce!
Explorer packs are available for kids to borrow as they adventure around. The gardens are also home to fun Easter trail activites for the whole family to enjoy together, as well as Summer of Play games and creative crafts during the school holidays.
Parkland
The gently undulating historic parkland is great for exploring on foot or by bike. Grab a map of our way-marked walks from visitor reception and enjoy discovering intriguing landmarks, stunning views and wildlife, or a spot of den building in the Great Wood. Venture further afield and explore on two wheels, with a selection of bikes available from the cycle hire hub at the Old School - please see website for times and more details.

By train:
Take the scenic Bure Valley Railway steam train from Hoveton & Wroxham station to Aylsham, 2 miles away from Blickling Estate.
By bus:
Sunbeam 1A bus service runs on Mondays and Fridays* direct from Aylsham Market Place to Blickling Estate. The service departs Aylsham at 10.10am and 11.40am. The return journey will depart from outside the Hall at 11.50am, 1.28pm and 4.08pm. [*excluding bank holidays]
Other bus options include Sanders Coaches Services 43, 44, 44A, X44 available from Norwich to Aylsham, 2 miles from Blickling Estate.
