About Blickling Estate

Blickling Estate has been at the heart of this Norfolk community since the sixteenth century and is famous for being built on the grounds of the childhood home of Queen Anne Boleyn, second wife of King Henry VIII.

One of the most imposing and complete country estates in Norfolk, it offers you a glimpse into the lives of those who lived here since it was built in the 1600s.

Head inside the House and imagine what it was like to live there. Open the sensory boxes to find out more about materials used in the House and what they smelt like!

Visit the RAF Oulton Museum above the Stables Cafe to see the collection of objects and documents donated by families whose relatives were stationed at Blickling Estate during the second world war.

Blickling Hall

The first sight of Blickling Hall, surrounded by ancient yew hedges, delights visitors of all ages. Inside, there are sensory boxes and spotting challenges for kids to enjoy as the explore and learn about the history of this special House.

Blickling Gardens

Surrounding the house, the formal gardens are the result of three centuries of inspired planting. You'll find daffodils, bluebells and magnolias in early spring, azaleas and rhododenrons in later spring, followed by a sweeping colour palette of flowers in the Parterre over the summer month. This is also the best time to visit the Walled Garden to see it bursting with produce!

Explorer packs are available for kids to borrow as they adventure around. The gardens are also home to fun Easter trail activites for the whole family to enjoy together, as well as Summer of Play games and creative crafts during the school holidays.

Parkland

The gently undulating historic parkland is great for exploring on foot or by bike. Grab a map of our way-marked walks from visitor reception and enjoy discovering intriguing landmarks, stunning views and wildlife, or a spot of den building in the Great Wood. Venture further afield and explore on two wheels, with a selection of bikes available from the cycle hire hub at the Old School - please see website for times and more details.
