Barbarafield Riding School
Cupar, Kingdom of FifeAbout Barbarafield Riding School
The TRSS approved Barbarafield Riding School offer a variety of well mannered mounts for lessons, which are available from around 5 years upwards. Absolute beginners welcomed and for the little ones, they have their half hour instructional hack which is a nice introduction to help get them started. Once the trotting is mastered they move you on to the hour hacks, plus there are fun days held for the children during the school holidays and on a monthly basis at the weekends.
The hacks go through a whopping 300 plus acre wodge of farmland owned by the friendly experts of the Berwick family. The ride can be split into groups in the fields so that the experienced riders can have a canter while the novices take a short cut for a walk and then a trot to catch up. There are 2 hour and 3 hour long hacks also available on request covering up to a whopping 20 km of land! These fast paced and definitively scenic rides take you off the farm and into the country, so riders must be confident in walk, trot and canter to participate.
During the Easter, Summer and October school holidays there are regular Fun Days organised for kids of all levels of experience to come up and spend the day with the ponies, doing a variety of cool horsey activities. Morning sessions are specifically welcoming toward novices, while the full day sessions are designed for the more experienced sorts. Activities include tacking up, grooming and learning how to look after your pony on the yard as well as an hour's riding session.
