This Christmas at Tredegar House
Unwrap 500 years of Christmas at Tredegar House, with twinkling lights, a magical atmosphere and discover the varied history of the house.
Look for festive lights throughout the gardens and beautiful decorations in the mansion house from 1st December and embark on a cheery discovery of the Tredegar House Christmas scene. There will also be family festive weekends on 9th, 10th, 16th and 17th December, where the ever-popular grumpy old Scrooge will make his return to cast his disapproving eye on the Christmas festivities... Not to worry though, because there will be plenty of choir singing and singalongs to keep the festive spirit alive!
Father Christmas will also be roaming around spreading joy to all! To make sure everyone has a chance to visit and enjoy the magical Christmas at Tredegar House there’s late-night opening on 8th, 15th, 18th, 19th and 20th December until 20:00.
Things To Do
Tredegar House and its surrounding gardens and parkland are the perfect place for a family day out. With 90 acres of grounds and two floors of the mansion house to explore, there's plenty to keep the whole family entertained.
Let your imaginations run wild with so many indoor and outdoor activities to get stuck into. Run around and explore beautiful Welsh nature on 90 acres of land, or explore seasonal and lakeside trails! Race each other along the herbaceous borders. Look out for the historic cedar tree or embark on family-friendly trails.
For little adventurers, how about embarking on your own adventure and picking up an explorer pack kitted out with binoculars, a compass, a magnifying glass, and more to allow you to get closer to nature? There are also plenty of ‘50 things to do before you’re 11¾’ activities to do along the way! With so much fun to be had all year round, everyone will have an absolute blast, especially with the seasonal activities Tredegar House offers!
Love animals? Play “spot the birds” with your kids by the lake as you look for swans, coots, herons and other feathered friends. Bring your dog along too. The four-legged members of your family are welcome in the gardens, parkland, and cafe, so you won’t have to worry about leaving them at home.
There is also a much-loved second-hand bookshop which is an ideal place to pick up a literary gem.
Food & Drink
All that running around and exploration has left you pretty thirsty huh? Well don’t worry, there is a terrific onsite cafe that hosts a whole variety of tasty treats to refuel on so you can continue your adventure!
The Brewhouse Cafe is open daily with sandwiches, soups, one pots and kids lunches, as well as hot and cold drinks and homemade treats.
