After ascending repurposed heritage stairs to The Rose Window Balcony, you will head up our purpose built walkway to the top. You are left with an incredible sense of space, fresh air, and a tranquil 360-degree view that stretches for miles.

Looking out across the capital, you can trace the contrast between vast green parks and the distant glass towers of the skyline. Scaling Ally Pally is all about the simple, quiet pleasure of being up high, taking a breath, and enjoying the finest view London has to offer.

Originally built in 1873, Ally Pally has survived two catastrophic fires, wartime service as an internment camp, and Victorian aeronauts launching hot-air balloons. It made global history in 1936 with the world's first high-definition BBC television broadcast. Looking down, you can still trace the outline of the famous "Frying Pan" horse racecourse in the 196 acres of parkland, alongside where the Ice Rink and restored BBC Theatre are.

Your guide will bring to life its legendary entertainment legacy, from 1960s rock festivals and the BRITs to the World Darts Championships, while pointing out London icons like St Paul’s, the Shard, the London Eye, Canary Wharf, and four major stadiums.
