Attraction Information
Northcroft and Goldwell Parks, situated in Newbury, are two attractive parks that adjoin each other. They hold the prestigious Green Flag award for parks maintained to a high standard. Northcroft Park provides opportunities for formal outdoor sports, providing three football pitches and a cricket pitch. The park also contains Northcroft Leisure Centre, children's play areas, a football changing facility and Newbury Cricket Club. Northcroft Park is bound to the south by the River Kennet and the Kennet and Avon Canal.
Goldwell Park was once part of a former mansion house and has a mature landscape of trees and grass that is quite steeply graded. Goldwell Park is 4 hectares in size and is made up of a woodland walk, a grassed slope and an area of earth mounding providing a BMX facility.
The views from the top of Goldwell Park are beautiful and together the parks offer a peaceful green setting for informal play and recreation. The parks are about 5 minutes' walk from Newbury Town Centre and 15 or so from Newbury Train Station so it's an easy enough pop in for your taste of nature for the day!
