Livingston Skate Park
Famous for it's proud possession of the only known full pipe in the whole of Europe, this outdoor facility is a fantastic place for kids who can already skate and board to strut their stuff! However because it's a free to use, unsupervised, built of solid concrete and doesn't have hire facilities this isn't the place to take your absolute beginners - unless it's on a busy day to watch!
Improvers and beyond however will find plenty to shred it up on and it's proximity to Almondvale means you can make a trade off with the kids exchanging their patience during retail time for some down (and up!) time here.
For those who are in the know and want the fine print, the Livi, as you'll soon be fondly calling it, has a small bowl at 4' deep with transition into the big bowl at 8' deep. It also boasts a half-pipe the same depth as the big bowl and 22 feet long with a fairly simple roll-in at one end. At the other end it opens into a nice wide reservoir where the bowls are on one side and on the other is an extension about 30 feet along and about the same in width. There are 2 bowl shapes at the far end separated by a small hip which acts as a roll in for the fun box through the centre of the extension and also to the mole hill at the end. There's also a double drop-in to the reservoir from both sides with one directed straight through towards the bowls and the other aimed side-on towards the mole hill. Nice!
Be sure to supervise your kids of all ages and do please ensure they're wearing adequate padding and a decent helmet - arguments with concrete are seldom won with bare noggins!
