Itchen Valley Country Park
Southampton, HampshireAbout Itchen Valley Country Park
Beautiful Itchen Valley Country Park has now held a Green Flag Award for 3 consecutive years! They're talking 440 acres of heaven and you can get a great overview before you get started at the modern Visitor Centre where there are also nature exhibits and refreshment facilities.
You can pick up Trail Guides here (60p!) too! The marked trails will help you tour the most beautiful spots in the park, with specific trails for dog walkers and cyclists and easy access for the push and wheel chairs. There's 2 to choose from ideal for families: The Play Trail is a short walk designed for children with nice play equipment involved along the route.
For a longer family walk, the 2 mile Totem Trail is a mystery trail where the kids have to compete to spot the 4 hidden totem poles. Patience required: there's some distance in between them! On top of that there's the 2 mile Meadows Nature Trail which takes in historically significant ground
There's a small play area for the under 9s and a large adventure play area for the older ones up to 15 and a fun trail links the areas with climbable animal sculptures en route! Children's activities and events are also held seasonally throughout the year so check and ahead and see what's coming up!
