About Hop Skip and Jump
Hop Skip and Jump is a not for profit charity that can provide flexible and immediate respite care, 7 days a week, for children and young adults in the South West with disabilities, life limiting illness, and Special needs. They provide a variety of indoor and outdoor activities designed to engage and inspire children that have special educational needs or have disabilities.
This is a safe, supervised environment where users can experience a sense of freedom, and are actively encouraged to take part in activities that will help build social esteem, social skills, and self-confidence. Parents and carers can take some much needed time off to spend time with their other children, go for a coffee with friends, or just have a rest, secure in the knowledge that the kids are enjoying high quality respite care.
The log cabin style centre has a huge indoor play area, a soft play area, a reading room, an arts and crafts room, and 2 specially designed light and dark sensory rooms. There is also a fully equipped kitchen, and a complimentary clinic. The centre also has a 2 acre enclosed area outside with climbing frames, play houses, slides, suspension bridges, wheelchair roundabout, and other adventure play equipment.
Hop Skip and Jump have a flexible system with no waiting list, where you can drop in for just an hour, or the whole day if that is what you need. The experienced members of staff will work closely with care workers, parents, and local authorities to ensure that every parent can access the full range of support services that they are entitled to.
The centre also runs Sibling Days, Family Activities, and Parent Support Groups so there's plenty of special and seasonal things to keep an eye out for using our helpful link!
