Things to do at Frimley Lodge Park
Children's Play Area and sports activities
One of the main attractions of Frimley Lodge Park is its stunning lake, which is perfect for a leisurely stroll or a spot of fishing. The park also boasts a children's play area, putt courses, tennis courts, football pitches and a miniature railway that runs on weekends and bank holidays. For those looking to get active, there are plenty of opportunities for families in the green spaces of this huge village park.
Seasonal Events
In addition to its recreational facilities, Frimley Lodge Park also hosts various events throughout the year, including music festivals, craft fairs, and food markets.
Park Cafe and Picnic Areas
Visitors to Frimley Lodge Park can also take advantage of the park's cafe, which serves a range of hot and cold beverages, snacks, and meals. There are plenty of picnic benches and grassy areas where visitors can sit back and enjoy their food while taking in the natural beauty of the park.
Miniature Railway
Frimley and Ascot Locomotive Club was given permission to build a Frimley Lodge Park Miniature Railway way back in 1988. By 1991 the one kilometre line was open to the public with train rides on the first Sunday of each month between March and November. We think this is a lovely attraction for families. Chug, chug your way around the park taking in the scenic views. Both young and old will enjoy this train ride.
Here's the technical bit! The main circuit is multi gauge, ground level and caters for 3 and a half, 5 and 7 and a quarter inch gauge. It is approximately 1km long and is used to give rides to the public as well as for club members' use. Rail construction is made using rectangular section steel with welded ties on timber sleepers, laid on limestone ballast. Now you can impress the kids with railway facts as you board for your journey.
The volunteers from the Frimley and Ascot Locomotive Club bring their own Locomotives to give pleasure to others with all the proceeds used for the maintenance of the Railway and to benefit local charities.
With its well-maintained grounds, wide range of facilities and activities with a peaceful atmosphere, Frimley Lodge Park is a great place to escape to for a day of relaxation and enjoyment. Whether you're visiting with friends, family, or on your own, this park has something to offer for everyone. So why not pack a picnic, grab a bike or your walking shoes, and head to Frimley Lodge Park for a refreshing outdoor experience? You won't be disappointed!
