You can take a leisurely walk or bike ride through the picturesque setting, let the kids play at one of the play areas, or try some forest activities with Tinder Sticks (pre-booking required).

Deep in the heart of the ancient Rockingham Forest, lies Fineshade Wood, one of the largest woodlands in Northamptonshire. It’s the perfect place to escape the big city and take some fresh air in the wild. Get comfy in the hide because there’s lots of wildlife to see - from majestic red kites in the sky, to shy deer peeking through the shrubs.

Things To Do
Got your walking shoes on? Let’s go and explore - there’s a network of trails through the forest that you can discover on foot or by bike. Take your camera and capture some of the fantastic views along the way. If you venture down into the woods, you might find a few familiar faces from your kids favourite stories!

Head to the bike hire and cycle your way through the forest a family cycle trail! Whether you're all adventurous cyclists or just starting out! But if you fancy keeping your feet on the ground, then head out on one of many walking trails. From the Mill Wood and Dales Wood to The Smelters' Walk right here at Fineshade Wood! If your kids are big fans of Zog, then choose the Zog activity trail! Download the free app, collect golden stars with Zog and snap a selfie with him at the end of the trail!

You can also take part in some bushcraft activities with Tinder Sticks (pre-booking is necessary).

Did you know that on the Dales Wood trail you might stumble across beautiful wildlife? In this secluded haven, you might spot deers, birds or even the greater spotted woodpecker!
