About Blackpool Zoo

The multi award-winning Blackpool Zoo is a wonderful place to visit for animal lovers of all ages. Located in the seaside town of Blackpool in Lancashire, England, the zoo is home to over 1,500 animals from all corners of the globe, including the resident lions, tigers, gorillas, flamingos, and many more. With loads of animals to discover, you and the family will have a fantastic experience and a family fun day out!

Things To Do
Big and Mighty
One of the highlights of Blackpool Zoo is the Project Elephant Base Camp, a spacious enclosure that is home to a herd of Asian elephants. Did you know the indoor area is the largest in the UK? Visitors can watch these intelligent and social animals as they roam around their habitat, or even get up close and personal with them by booking a special elephant encounter experience.

Another popular attraction at Blackpool Zoo is Giraffe Heights, which offers visitors the chance to see the tallest mammals from ground level! Marvel at how tall they are or gaze upon them from head height at the giraffe house! All in their naturalistic habitat, you'll find the animals go about their daily life, like giraffes grazing on the savannah! Or head to the Big Cat House to catch the majestic African lions lounging in the sun, or the elusive Amur Tiger. Blackpool Zoo's animal feeds also offer you the chance for hands-on experiences as you get close to the giraffes during feeding time, with the experienced keepers!

Gaze to the sky as you spot chimpanzees swinging through the trees in the Gorilla Mountain and Orangutan Outlook. Discover the mighty Bornean Orangutans as they climb and play with each other, from the rustic seating area.

Small and Majestic
In addition to these large mammals, Blackpool Zoo is also home to a number of smaller animals, including seals, meerkats, and birds. Marvel at the colourful parrots in Rainbow Landings, and come face to face with the animals of the ocean at Active Oceans. With a sea lion pool which is the largest sea lion pool in the UK and a penguin enclosure! There is just so much to see with this large list of animals!

Don't forget to visit Lemur Wood! The UK's and Blackpool Zoo's first walk-through enclosure, Come face to face with ring-tailed lemurs as they leap for joy and jump across within inches of you! As you wander through, you'll see a lake of flamingos, rare geese and ducks too!
There is also a petting zoo where visitors can get up close and personal with some of the animals, including goats, sheep, and donkeys.

Dinosaur Safari
Looking for a roar-tastic time? Come face to face with 32 life-size dinosaurs as you explore the Lost World. From the terrifying T-Rex to soaring Pterodactyls and other marine reptiles. As you travel through a prehistoric age, you'll be truly amazed at what you'll see, with incredible sound effects and authentic living plants and trees!

Play Areas
Blackpool Zoo is more than just a place to see animals, however. There are also plenty of activities for visitors to enjoy, including a miniature railway, a children's adventure playground, and a picnic area where you can relax and enjoy a bite to eat.

Food & Drink
If you need a bite to eat, head to the cafe for light bites and nibbles. For those looking for smokey and barbequed food, the BBQ Kiosk might be up your street! Nawala serves something tasty, from tasty burgers and hot dogs to loaded fries and and pizzas - so everyone is satisfied and full up! With a range of food outlets and kiosks, you'll never go hungry.

If you're planning a visit to Blackpool Zoo, there are a few things you might want to keep in mind. Blackpool Zoo is an outdoor attraction, so it's a good idea to dress appropriately for the weather. If it's hot, remember to bring plenty of sunscreens, and if it's cold, make sure you wrap up
warm! Blackpool Zoo is a great day out for the whole family. Whether you're an animal lover or just looking for a fun outing, you're sure to have a great time at this wonderful attraction!
