Attraction Information
Streetlife - Museum of Transport tells the story of 200 years of transport in Hull, ideal for kids that love cars of all kinds. Everyone will enjoy getting their bones shaken on the simulated mail-coach ride aboard the old corporation trams!
There are 5 informative galleries at the Streetlife Museum. The Bicycle Gallery explores the bicycle's history and development and its historical links to Hull. They have an excellent collection of really old fashioned bicycles including a rare 1818 Hobby Horse!
The Carriage Gallery features one of Britain's finest public ownership carriage collections. Be prepared for the smell of the stable as you step out of the simulated Hull - York Mail Coach ride! Plus, the Motor Car Gallery takes your family back to the 1900 Motor Show, where you can examine rare veteran motor cars dating from as far back as 1897!
The Streetscene Gallery is a busy street of reconstructed period shops including a cycle shop, a Yorkshire chemist shop and a 1930s Co-operative shop.
Fun to explore and great for imaginative kids is the Railway Gallery: a reconstructed 1930s goods shed with vintage signal box, transported brick-by-brick from its original location and lovingly re-assembled here.
