William's Den
Brough, East YorkshireAbout William's Den
Nestled in the heart of the stunning Yorkshire Wolds, William’s Den is a multi-award-winning family attraction designed to inspire play, creativity, and adventure. It’s more than just a day out – it’s a place where children can explore freely, challenge themselves, and reconnect with the joy of outdoor fun, whatever the weather.
From the moment you arrive, you’ll find plenty to spark excitement. Outside, our huge natural playscape invites children to run, climb, dig, splash and swing to their heart’s content. Zip wires, giant sand pits, tyre swings, mud kitchens, water pumps, and our much-loved den-building zones offer endless opportunities for open-ended, active play. Whether they’re making a new friend on the climbing frame or creating their own mini world in the mud kitchen, kids are encouraged to lead their own adventures.
Indoors, the play continues in our spectacular wooden play barn, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach to child-led learning. Every inch of this handcrafted space is designed to stimulate the senses and encourage imaginative thinking – from treehouses and wobbly bridges to indoor streams and even the chance to make it rain! Built using natural materials, the indoor space provides a seamless extension of the outdoor environment, creating a space where children can feel free and inspired, rain or shine.
But William’s Den isn’t just about the kids. It’s a place where families can spend quality time together. Grown-ups can join in the fun, or relax with a coffee from Uncle James’ Coffee Shop while the children play. Our on-site Pizzeria serves up award-winning, homemade food including hand-stretched, wood-fired pizzas made fresh in front of you. And for those with a sweet tooth, our Ice Cream Parlour is not to be missed!
We also host a range of seasonal events throughout the year – from Easter Adventures and summer’s Den Fest, to our magical Christmas experience and the ever-popular Trick or Treat Street at Halloween. These events add extra sparkle to your visit and are designed to suit a range of ages and interests.
For families looking to make a real adventure of it, why not camp overnight under the stars? Our family-friendly campsite offers beautiful views, plenty of space, and the chance to wake up to fresh air and freedom. It’s a fantastic way to extend your visit and enjoy everything William’s Den has to offer at a slower pace.
We’re proud to offer SEND-friendly quieter times, fully accessible facilities, and a warm Yorkshire welcome to every guest. With free parking, thoughtfully designed toilet facilities (including a fully accessible Changing Places unit), and a commitment to providing a high-quality experience for all, William’s Den is a destination that works for everyone.
Whether you’re visiting for the day, celebrating a birthday, or pitching up for a weekend of wild fun – William’s Den is the place where families connect, play, and create memories that last a lifetime.
Come ready for fun. You’ll leave muddy, happy, and already planning your next visit.

Indoor meets outdoor play with nature, imagination, and heart
At William’s Den, we offer more than just a fun day out – we provide a space where children are free to explore, create and connect with nature in their own way. What makes us truly different is our commitment to child-led play, inspired by the Reggio Emilia approach, which believes that children are natural learners, curious by nature, and thrive when given the freedom to discover on their own terms.
Our play environments – both indoors and out – are carefully designed to spark imagination, encourage problem-solving, and allow children to engage all their senses. From climbing, building and splashing, to den-making and storytelling, every part of William’s Den has been thoughtfully created to support physical, emotional and creative development.
We blend natural materials, open-ended play opportunities and wide-open space in a way few attractions do. Add to that our homemade food, friendly team, family facilities, and stunning countryside location, and you’ve got a day out that feels both adventurous and meaningful.
Whether it’s your first visit or your fifth, you’ll always find something new to discover. At William’s Den, it’s not just playtime – it’s a place for children to grow, and for families to reconnect.
Freedom to explore, space to grow, memories made through play
Children love William’s Den because it gives them something they rarely find - freedom. Freedom to run, to climb, to get muddy, to try new things and push their boundaries in a way that feels exciting but safe.
Our huge adventure playground and natural surroundings are made for curious minds and active bodies. Whether it’s racing down slides, building dens with friends, or discovering new skills in the indoor play barn, kids are in charge of their own adventures – no screens, no pressure, just real play.
Everything at William’s Den is designed with child-led discovery in mind. There’s no set way to play here – children can follow their instincts, challenge themselves, or simply enjoy the space in their own way. That’s why they return again and again – it’s never the same day twice.
Parents love that it’s all underpinned by safety. Our team is trained, our site is secure, and our play structures are built to the highest standards – so children feel brave, while grown-ups feel relaxed.
At William’s Den, kids don’t just play – they thrive. And that’s why they love it here.
