Attraction Information
Skipton Boat Trips offer a great way to explore the longest canal in Britain at 127 miles (204km)! The canal was originally used to transport stone, cloth, coal, and other cargo, but is now an excellent way to discover the area with the kids as the world passes by.
There is a brilliant and lively 1 hour, guided trip available that is fun whatever the weather, with commentary from award winning comedian Dave Spikey, of 8 Out of Cats and Phoenix Nights fame. In between the jokes (and laughter!), you will hear lots of fascinating stories and points of interest about how the Leeds and Liverpool canal delivered the lifeblood of the industrial revolution through Yorkshire. A refreshingly different way to enjoy a whistle stop tour of Skipton.
If you are feeling a bit more adventurous, you can hire a luxury Day boat and be your own captain! You will be shown everything you need to know to keep the family safe and happy on your daylong trip, as a 30 minute lesson is included. The boat has plenty of home comforts including a fridge, cooker, and a flushing toilet! You'll be travelling along the 17 miles of (lock free) canal like a true captain before you know it! A restful way to explore the lush green dales of Skipton at your own pace.
Other trips are also available, including Live Music Cruises, Magical Santa Trips, and Christmas Cruises.
