Attraction Information

Bolton Abbey is a huge 30,000-acre estate where you can take a riverside walk, discover fantastical sculptures and explore the ruins of the 12th-century Priory and the medieval Barden Tower!

The kids will love the chance to hop across the river with the 61 stepping stones! Don't worry though, grandparents and less-brave parents can use the bridge alongside instead and further upstream there are two beaches to play on.

Follow the nature trails around Strid Wood where you can also play an I-Spy game by picking up a copy from Cavendish Shop. Plus all Summer long, kids can have a crack at the Welly Walk: a long assault course where kids will be balancing, tunnelling, climbing and more!

Beautiful Abbey 5 out of 5 stars

Came here with the family and loved it! The Abbey is fascinating!! The staff were very helpful and kind. The stepping stones were well exciting for the kids and adults. The kids got soaked playing in the water so maybe bring some change of clothes. It was a lovely trip and would love to go again

Fun-packed day out 5 out of 5 stars

We had a smashing day at Bolton Abbey. Weather wasn't great but all our children loved the ruins of the priory. The highlight had to be crossing the river via the stepping stones. We then spent ages down by the river just throwing stones in and trying to stop the kids getting too wet! Lovely couple of hours - and it's all free except for the car parking charge.
