Sheffield Park and Garden is a brilliant family day out in East Sussex, with lakes, woodland, gardens and over 250 acres of beautiful landscape to explore. Families can enjoy scenic walks, spot ducks and peacocks, discover bridges and waterfalls, and take part in seasonal trails and family activities throughout the year.

Summer of Play: Myths and Legends

Explore our enchanting garden as it transforms into a magical mythological realm throughout the summer months.

Watch dragons soar through the skies, unicorns gallop through the glades, and mermaids swim through the lakes as a bevy of ancient legends come to life in the gardens. Young adventurers can find five play zones, each with its own distinct mythological creature. Along the way, enjoy a variety of garden games and hands-on activities. Whether you’re helping the trolls build dens in the Play Glade or simply soaking up the magical atmosphere, there is something for the whole family to enjoy.

Kwik Cricket

Date: Every Wednesday 29 July-26 August

Practise your skills this summer with our Kwik Cricket sessions on Sheffield Park and Garden's famous and historic cricket pitch every Wednesday during the holidays.

Please note, the sessions last from 10:30 to 13:00. The earlier sessions have team members from the National Trust available for guidance on how to play Kwik Cricket. From the afternoon, the sessions are self-led from 14:00 to 16:00. This is great chance to play as a family!

Big One Hundred - Ashdown Forest Family Festival

Join us for our exciting Big Camp Out event, giving you the chance to camp out on our cricket grounds under the stars, and experience the beauty Sheffield Park and Garden has to offer as night descends.

We will be running a variety of activities all included within the ticket price, such as:

- bat walks

- bushcraft and den making

- Kwik cricket games

- charcoal making demonstration with rangers

- crafts, including pebble painting, weaving and macrame

- wellbeing sessions

- stargazing

- live music in the evening

- campfire songs

- marshmallow toasting

- and more!

Food outlets in the garden will be open to buy food and drinks during the day, and you’ll have plenty of downtime to relax. A concession stand will be available up at the cricket grounds in the evening to buy dinner.

Transport Information

Sheffield Park and Garden is located midway between East Grinstead and Lewes, 5 miles northwest of Uckfield, on the east side of A275 (between A272 and A22). If approaching northbound from Lewes, we are just past the Bluebell Railway, over the River Ouse bridge on the right.

Coming southbound from the A22 Wych Cross, follow the brown signs for Sheffield Park and the Bluebell Railway.
