Attraction Information
You have to time your visit to Beech Hurst Park Miniature Railway well, as it's only open on limited weekends. This is because it's run by volunteers which means you can bet your base plate that every single element of the place is created with love and enthusiasm, which really comes through from a visit here.
It's a lovely little half mile track with great views, being 300 metres above sea level, featuring 2 tunnels, steaming bays where the mini locomotives are prepared by experts for running, plus there's the clubhouse and workshops, covered accommodation for rolling stock and a fully automatic colour light signalling system just like the real deal.
For those who know their huff from their puff the elevated track is in two gauges, 3 1/2 and 5", presenting a variety of differing significances for the knowledgeable enthusiast.
Kids with the odd day to spare who are really interested in helping maintain the railway or general model engineering can apply (with parental permission) to come along and help. Told you they're lovely!
