About Shakespeares Globe Theatre

"All the world's a stage", or in this case, Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, is the stage!

For dedicated thespians, lovers of literature, and those who love a good theatre show, we've got an attraction to add to your bucket list! Shakespeare's Globe is a unique attraction that will transport you back to the Elizabethan Era, where "the play's the thing" and the magic of the stage came alive.

History Of Shakespeare's Globe Theatre

The Globe Theatre is not just a place to watch plays; it's a gateway to the past. Originally built in 1599, this historic venue was created by William Shakespeare and his company of actors. Although the original theatre no longer stands, the modern reconstruction of the Globe Theatre was opened in 1997. The American actor Sam Wanamaker faithfully reconstructed and restored this Elizabethan playhouse to its 16th-century design! This outdoor theatre is 30m in diameter and has 20 sides, giving it its circular shape! You'll step back in time and experience the magic of Shakespeare's world together.

Interactive and Immersive Experiences

Shakespeare’s Globe Theatre offers more than just riveting performances. Dive into the vibrant world of Elizabethan theatre with a guided tour that uncovers the secrets of how plays were staged over 400 years ago. The theatre’s design includes an open roof and the famous “Yard,” where you can stand close to the action, embracing the full experience of being part of the audience just as they did in Shakespeare's time.

A Glimpse into Elizabethan Theatre

Step into a world where the magic of Shakespeare’s plays unfolds right before your eyes. At Shakespeare's Globe Theatre, you’re not just watching a performance; you're immersing yourself in a rich tapestry of history. Originally built in 1599 by Shakespeare and his fellow actors, this modern recreation, opened in 1997 by Sam Wanamaker, faithfully mirrors the 16th-century design

Year-Round Attractions and Activities

No visit to Shakespeare's Globe is complete without exploring the diverse range of activities offered throughout the year. From watching Shakespeare’s iconic plays to enjoying special candlelit performances at the Sam Wanamaker Playhouse during winter, there’s something for everyone. The Globe also hosts family-friendly events like storytelling sessions and masterclasses. Don’t miss the opportunity to visit the Exhibition, which provides insights into the theatre's history and ongoing efforts to keep Shakespeare’s legacy alive.
