Attraction Information
Holkham Beach is three miles long and, at low tide, half a mile deep in fine sand. A beach for simple activities such as sandcastle building or kite flying, there are no lifeguards or modern facilities here but there are sea shells and safe paddling and frankly who needs more?!
If you do though, then it's part of the vast Holkham National Nature Reserve which itself includes a children's play area, boating lake and bygone museum so there are plenty of pleasant little ways to extend your day without even leaving the estate.
Be aware there is a nudist section on the western side of the beach. There are often families of naturists as well as individuals and it's certainly educational and gets some interesting conversations going, but it's not necessarily what you want to stumble across, so be sure to plan carefully which bits you want to see.
Please note that the address given is for the nearby hotel for reference only. Lady Anne's Drive, opposite the hotel, takes you straight to the beach.
