Harrogate Climbing Centre

Harrogate Climbing Centre is a superb climbing and bouldering facility on Harrogate's Hornbeam Park.

Catering for climbers of all abilities from 5 years and over. with a wide range of courses and one-off sessions to suit everyone including Family Taster Sessions, Birthday Parties, Casual Kids' Club sessions and progressive climbing courses for kids or adults.

Children can be booked onto various sessions: Little Monkeys (5 to 6yrs), Rock Its (7 to 11yrs) or Hang Time (11 to 17yrs) - sessions run regularly throughout term time and during the school holidays.

If it's a longer term hobby you are looking for then NICAS (National Indoor climbing Award Scheme) courses are perfect for kids. These are progressive courses, following the only nationally recognised scheme that introduces new climbers to climbing on artificial climbing walls. The scheme focuses on skill development and safety, as well as climbing ability, and is split into 5 award levels. NICAS is open to climbers 7 years and over of all ages and abilities, and covers all aspects from the absolute basics to advanced climbing techniques.

Climbing is a great activity to do as a family. Join in on a Family Outdoor Day or book your family an indoor Family Taster Session and work as a team to conquer any fear of heights. There is a small play area in the cafe great for keeping non-climbing kids occupied or as a little fun break for young climbers, suitable for toddlers up to around 7 or 8 years old.
