Harlech Beach, nestled along the picturesque coast of North Wales, is a beautiful beach boasting fantastic views and offering a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. Situated in the charming town of Harlech. We think this sandy paradise that stretches for miles, provided visitors with ample space to relax, unwind, and soak up the sun. Best of all, did you know that Harlech Beach is one of the cleanest beaches in Snowdonia?
Things to do at Harlech Beach
At Harlech Beach the golden sand stretches around four miles long and provide plenty of space for walking, beach combing, kite surfing and bathing. All activities that make a lovely beach experience for families. However, it is important to note there is no lifeguard cover and although swimming at Harlech is generally safe it can have strong currents.
See the sand dunes
This sandy beach is backed by a sand dunes system that have been accreting so radically that it' unbelievable that Harlech Castle, almost a mile inland, was actually built right by the sea.
Wildlife
On the northern side of the beach is the Morfa Harlech Nature Reserve, a haven for rare plant species and birdlife. On the southern end lies Shell Island where more than 200 different types of shell have been found. Leatherback turtles are occasionally seen offshore hunting the jellyfish which are abundant in the bay, so do be careful of those when swimming.
