About Corris Mine Explorers

Follow in the footsteps of Victorian slate miners with the best Mine Guides. You’ll experience the broad tunnels and cavernous chambers where the world’s best slate was excavated by both hand and explosives, before being shipped around the world.  From the moment you step through a hidden door in the mountainside, you’ll be immersed into a way of life and work which changed little throughout the mine’s history. Having barely been touched since the mine was abandoned in the 1970s, the countless awards and outstanding reviews explain how unmissable this authentic and fascinating experience is.  Enjoy our Pathfinder trip for ages 8+ or step up a level to the Adventurer for ages 10+!

Discover an old Welsh Slate mine

You get to follow in the footsteps of Victorian Slate Miners on this authentic visit.

We're deep beneath the mountains of Southern Snowdonia

Formed many millennia ago, the slate areas of Gwynedd are now officially recognised by UNESCO as a World Heritage site.

We are based at Corris Caverns

We share a destination with many more fabulous businesses including King Arthur's Labyrinth, Corris Craft Centre with 9 independent Craft Workshops, the Welsh Legends Maze, the Corris Cafe and Welsh Deli. There's a children's play area too.
