About Hall Place & Gardens

One of the South East’s best-kept secrets. This historic house and garden, rich in fascinating history, welcomes visitors all year round with a range of exhibitions and public events and stunning spaces for weddings and other celebrations. Garden entry is free.

Hall Place is a Grade I listed country house built in 1537, you can book on public tours to discover the house. We have a cafe on site sitting alongside the River Cray, toilets, an art gallery, as well as a miniature railway running seasonally alongside our Jambs Owls Experience.

  • Our Queen's Beasts topiary

    The amazing animal heraldic shapes were planted for Queen Elizabeth II Coronation in 1953!

  • Live owls experience on site

    We have an amazing parliament of owls on site that the public can visit, and even hold!

  • Our historic house is Tudor and nearly 500 years old!!

    It was even used in WW2 for top secret war work linked to Bletchley Park!

Please check our website before visiting. The gardens open every day at 9am, the Visitor Centre including cafe, toilets and Stables Art Gallery open at 9:30am every day.
