Get to know animals CIC
Epping, EssexAbout Get to know animals CIC
If your kids love animals (and let’s be honest… you probably do too!), you’re going to **LOVE** Get to Know Animals CIC 🥰
We’re GTKA — **the UK’s most unique indoor exotic animal sanctuary!** 🌿✨ And we’re not your typical **“run around all day, wear yourself out, maybe see an animal hiding away in the distance somewhere if you’re lucky, go home”** kind of place — we are the exact polar opposite! 😅
We are a **chill out, not a wear you out** kind of visit 😌 and our beloved animals are **right up close and personal** for you to see, learn about, and (depending on the animal and how they’re feeling that day) interact with too 🤍
No trekking miles, no squinting into the distance, no “where even IS it?” — just proper, magical animal moments that kids remember forever ✨
Picture this: a warm, tropical, jungle-style sanctuary (yes, indoors!) 🌴 full of little moments that make kids go wide-eyed and whisper-shout “MUM! DAD! LOOK AT THIS!!!” every 30 seconds 😍 It’s exciting, it’s cosy, it’s packed with personality — and it’s designed to be a relaxed, welcoming family experience.
### Mammals 🐾
We’ve got everything from monkeys (yes, really!) 🙈 to rabbits, guinea pigs, ferrets, hedgehogs, skunks, rats, fat‑tailed gerbils… and even an **armadillo** 🤯 (plus plenty more exotic surprises!).
### Reptiles 🦎
Lizards from tiny geckos to giant iguanas, snakes from weeny little noodles right up to **20ft pythons** 🐍… and we even have an **American alligator** (and she likes to play football!) 🐊⚽
### Birds 🦜
From cheeky parrots to pigeons and even a duck 🦆 — expect feathers, fun, and the occasional **“OMG THAT BIRD JUST SAID HELLO TO ME!” moment** 😂🦜
### And then there’s the rest… 🐠🕷️
Fish, frogs, insects, tarantulas, and more. Basically, if your child is the kind of kid who picks up bugs like they’re treasure… they’re going to be in heaven 😄
### Why families tell us we’re different 🤍
Because we are. Every single animal here is an ex‑pet who needed a **forever loving home** and **very specialist care** — and we’ve built that home 🏡
GTKA is all about kindness, comfort, and connection. We put welfare first (always), and we’re **very big on education** and helping children learn that animals aren’t toys — they’re living, feeling little souls with their own needs and personalities 🌈
We’re also a **completely self‑funded, not‑for‑profit organisation**, and every penny you spend helps us give our rescued and re-homed animals the specialist care, food, heating, enrichment and forever home they deserve 🤍
And because we’re fully indoors, you can plan a visit without crossing your fingers at the weather forecast ☔ Plus, it’s a proper comfy one — **no cold noses and muddy boots here!** 🙌
It’s also a really welcoming space, with plenty of seating and a calm, inclusive atmosphere — perfect for families who want something fun, but not frantic.
Everyone asks “how long will we be there?” and honestly… it’s a bit like asking how long you’ll spend in an art gallery! 😅 It really depends on your attention span, how much you want to learn, and how many amazing animal experiences you choose to do. The average visit is **1–2 hours**, but some people could sing and dance with **Nigel the cockatoo** for hours alone! 🤣
And if you *are* after a full day out, we’ve got you covered there too — we’re **slap bang in the middle of beautiful Epping Forest** 🌳 So you can pop in for your animal fix, then head out for a good old woodland walk… or even a **teddy bears’ picnic** in the trees (yes please!) 🧺✨
So if you’re looking for something that’s exciting for the kids, genuinely enjoyable for grown-ups, and leaves you feeling all warm and fuzzy inside… come and visit us at GTKA 🥰✨
We can’t wait to welcome you into our tropical little world! 🌿

The most personal animal handling experiences in the UK!

If you just love them all and want to meet as many animals as you can, we also have lots of different packages available, where you can meet multiple species of animals - eg like our most popular zootastic package (Meet a snake, 2 lizards, 2 furries and a frog or insect!
We are totally weather proof!
We are fully indoors, so whatever thecweather, step into our fully sensory, immersive, tropical environment and escape the outsidecworld!
