Frensham Great Pond and Frensham Common is a picturesque beauty spot located in Surrey, England. Situated between Farnham and Hindhead on either side of the A287 is the green flag award-winning site of Frensham Great Pond. The common and pond are leased to Waverley Borough Council
It is a popular destination for visitors who wish to take advantage of the stunning natural landscape and enjoy some of the recreational activities on offer. The area has long been renowned for its tranquil atmosphere, as well as its wealth of wildlife found in and around the pond. Whether you are looking for an afternoon stroll or a full day's adventure, you are sure to find something to keep you entertained at Frensham Ponds. The two ponds are known as Frensham Great and Frensham Little Pond
Things to do
The ponds are a great place to start exploring. It is a sanctuary for wildlife and provides plenty of opportunities for birdwatchers, with over 50 species of birds having been recorded in the area.
Beach
There is a sandy beach near Frensham Great Pond, however checks on water quality before swimming must be made first. This can confirm whether swimming is permitted. Water quality can be affected which makes swimming unsafe at certain times of the year at Frensham Great Pond.
Walking
The woodland trails and bridle paths around the ponds and common provide plenty of opportunity to enjoy nature! The heathland is a beautiful to see whilst walking with a colourful mosaic of purple heathers, yellow gorse and other wild plants.
Birdwatching and nature activities
Spot rare birds and other small wildlife around the pond, make dens with the fallen branches or go pond dipping. Dogs are welcome along the designated dog route surrounding the beach area, but not on the beach itself. The pond gets very busy in the summer months and on bank holidays. So, get there early to make the most of this amazing outdoor space! Cafe facilities are available

Car parking at Frensham Little Pond is managed by National Trust. Traffic jams can often form during busy periods and it is worth noting that once the car park is full so is the site. So it may be a good idea to visit another day.
