Attraction Information

Odiham Castle  is known locally as King John's Castle Odiham Castle is located within a tranquil site adjacent to the Basingstoke Canal.

The flint ruins are those of the only octagonal Keep in Britain, and currently being restored under the Heritage Lottery Fund and Hampshire County.

This site has witnessed and been part of many historical events, from the signing of the Magna Carta, a French siege to the ownership of the de Montforts, a revolt and even the imprisonment of a Scottish King.

Now it is open to visit and you may explore the ancient walkways and imagine castle life. Not a full day by any means but a picnic in the grounds would help fill an afternoon.

Nice little find on a walk! 4 out of 5 stars

We went here today. Nice walk down from the town to this site. (about 10 min walk) walk along the river bank, feed the ducks, deer park nearby (which we haven't done yet) Castle was great. Lots of information and seating areas. You can't climb or touch the castle but still a great afternoon out.
