Looking for a children’s party idea that is creative, memorable and genuinely different? At Curious Cocoa Co, our chocolate workshops and parties give children the chance to become real mini chocolatiers for the day, creating their own delicious handmade treats in a relaxed, welcoming environment in historic Rochester, Kent.
Perfect for birthdays, celebrations, school holidays and special occasions, our workshops are designed to be interactive from start to finish. Children don’t simply watch demonstrations, they get fully involved in the chocolate making process themselves. From painting chocolate moulds and decorating lollipops, to creating personalised chocolate slabs and rolling truffles, every child leaves with a collection of handmade chocolates they can proudly take home and enjoy.
Our chocolate parties are carefully designed to strike the perfect balance between creativity, fun and structure. Children are encouraged to experiment with colours, toppings, flavours and designs, allowing each creation to feel unique and personal. Whether they love getting artistic, enjoy baking and food activities, or simply adore chocolate, the experience offers something for everyone.
Unlike many party venues, sessions are led by a trained chocolatier rather than a party entertainer. Curious Cocoa Co was founded by Beth Frost, inspired by a family history in confectionery and trained in chocolate techniques under award-winning pastry chef Mark Tilling. That passion for artisan chocolate runs through every workshop, creating an experience that feels authentic, thoughtful and genuinely special.
The atmosphere is friendly, relaxed and inclusive, making it ideal for children of different ages and personalities. Some children dive straight into decorating and experimenting, while others take their time carefully designing every detail of their chocolates. The workshops are designed to be enjoyable without pressure, allowing children to have fun, be creative and learn new skills along the way.
One of the highlights for many children is the chance to work with professional chocolate making equipment and techniques in a real workshop setting. They learn how chocolate is moulded, decorated and presented while creating treats that look impressive enough to come from a luxury chocolate shop. The excitement of boxing up their finished creations at the end of the session is always a huge moment.
Each child typically makes a selection of handcrafted chocolates including hand painted chocolate lollipops, chocolate slabs covered in toppings, dipped marshmallows and rolled truffles. The colourful decorations and toppings make every workshop visually exciting, and children love seeing how different each person’s creations become.
Everything is beautifully packaged for children to take home afterwards, making the experience feel even more special. Parents often tell us the chocolates barely survive the journey home before being eaten, while others save them to show family and friends first.
Our workshops are especially popular for birthday parties because they offer something more memorable than many traditional party options. Instead of soft play centres or generic entertainment packages, children enjoy an immersive activity where they are constantly engaged and creating something themselves. It also gives parents the opportunity to choose a party that feels personal, creative and a little more unique.
We keep group sizes manageable to ensure every child receives plenty of guidance and encouragement throughout the workshop. This creates a calmer, more enjoyable atmosphere where children can properly take part rather than simply waiting their turn. Sessions are suitable for smaller gatherings as well as larger birthday groups.
The workshops also make an excellent option for children who enjoy arts and crafts, baking shows, sensory activities or creative experiences. Chocolate making naturally combines all of these elements - colour, texture, decoration and, of course, tasting delicious chocolate along the way.
Located in Rochester, Kent, Curious Cocoa Co has built a strong reputation locally for luxury artisan chocolate and engaging workshops. We are fully insured, DBS checked and hold a 5-star food hygiene rating, giving parents confidence and peace of mind when booking.
As well as birthday parties, we also host workshops for schools, youth groups, seasonal events and family experiences throughout the year. Special themed workshops are often available during Easter, Christmas and other holiday periods, adding an extra layer of excitement for children.
Parents frequently describe the workshops as one of the most enjoyable and original children’s activities they’ve attended. Many children leave proudly declaring it was “the best party ever,” especially after seeing the chocolates they created themselves. The combination of creativity, independence and chocolate makes the experience genuinely memorable.
What makes Curious Cocoa Co different is the attention to detail and the passion behind every session. This is not a mass-produced party experience. Every workshop is thoughtfully curated to create a warm, welcoming environment where children can enjoy trying something new, get creative with chocolate and leave with both happy memories and plenty of treats.
If you’re searching for a children’s party or activity that feels special, hands-on and completely different from the ordinary, our chocolate workshops offer a unique experience children will be talking about long after the last chocolate has been eaten.
