ColourPlay CIC
Glasgow, Glasgow and StrathclydeAbout ColourPlay CIC
Come along to ColourPlay's Colour Room with your friends and family and Express, Connect & Play!
At ColourPlay we strongly believe in the power of freeplay to inspire creativity and connection.
With that in mind, most of our materials are available to explore at your own pace, and are included in your session price.
Draw on our graffiti wall, paint on our glass wall, create a masterpiece on canvas, splash around in our Messy Tray, create a junk-model from our recycled materials or join friends for some art on the floor. It's your session, so create your way!
Simply come in and play around with the materials available.
For an even better ColourPlay experience, and for those who have something a bit more specific in mind we also offer “upgrade” resources which can be purchased at the front desk. Our range includes canvases of various sizes, specialist paints, colouring books, glass jars, watercolour sets, and much more - all at incredibly reasonable prices! We want art to be accessible to everyone!
It's your masterpiece, so of course, you can take it home with you....if you want to. Or you can leave it for us to recycle into future collages if you'd prefer.
Grown-ups are asked to supervise their littles and ensure they are using equipment in a way that is safe for themselves and those around them! But more than that - we want you to get involved too. Create together and you will all have more fun!
Have a project you’re working on at home? Bring it along! Whether it's an old piece of clothing you want to upcycle, some rocks you found and would like to paint, or that school project you didn’t quite have time to finish, feel free to bring it with you and use our resources to take it to the next level!
At ColourPlay we encourage everyone to get involved with your creation, and that means you should expect to get messy!
Old clothes are strongly recommended for your colourplay session as we don’t have aprons!
Most of our resources will wash out, but there are some things which may not want to shift and with it being a freeplay studio we cannot guarantee there wont be stray paint splashes no matter how careful you’re being!
Our intimate Colour Room space does not allow us to offer cafe facilities. But, we are happy to offer free complimentary bottled water, as well as a range of cold drinks and snacks to purchase at very reasonable prices!
Look out for our special themed events too! While we celebrate the freedom to create however you wish, we also understand that a touch of inspiration can be helpful. That's why our themed activities provide a fun backdrop to guide and ignite your creativity, offering a balance of structure and freedom to make each experience uniquely your own. Whether you’re diving into sensory play or transforming old clothing into new masterpieces, ColourPlay is your canvas to dream big and create boldly.
And thanks to popular demand, we also run our "Craft & Unwind" events especially for the adults! Leave your stress at the door and let your creativity run wild at ColourPlay’s Craft & Unwind: Freestyle Art Night! This adults-only arts and crafts event offers an open, unrestricted space to explore a wide range of materials—from paints, pastels, canvases, and crafts, or throw some paint on our graffiti wall or glass boards too! Whether you’re a seasoned artist or just looking to have fun, this is your night to create without limits. Make a Mess, or Make A Masterpiece—the choice is yours! With no rules and endless possibilities, you can let your imagination take over. Experiment with colours, textures, and techniques at your own pace, while enjoying a relaxed and social atmosphere. And don’t forget, it’s Bring Your Own Bottle, so feel free to sip your favourite drink as you craft the night away!
ColourPlay is a not-for-profit Community Interest Company. We are committed to bringing creative art & craft sessions to people throughout the community who wouldn't normally have access to such services and materials. Our session prices reflect our vision, and we hope to invest any profits raised, alongside grant funding, to offer complimentary sessions to community groups in the near future.
Unrestricted Creative Play The Whole Family Can Enjoy
We have a wide range of materials to suit all ages and stages, from our freestyle floor to canvases and acrylic paints there is something for everyone, from baby to grandparent.
Grown-ups are asked to supervise their littles and ensure they are using equipment in a way that is safe for themselves and those around them! But more than that - we want you to get involved too. Create together and you will all have more fun, and your kids will enjoy watching you get involved. Inspire their creativity, by exploring yours!
Creative Play - explore our materials in your own way
You don't need to sign up for a class, and you don't need to create the art an instructor wants you to create today. We are all about unrestricted creative play.
Book when it suits you, even if that's last minute, and simply come in and play around with the materials available.
Draw on our graffiti wall, paint on our glass wall, create a masterpiece on canvas, splash around in our Messy Tray, create a junk-model from our recycled materials or join friends for some art on the floor.

Rules? What Rules? Creativity that knows no bounds
Kids love the freedom to explore in their own way, letting loose with the range of materials available and making discoveries for themselves about what art means to them!
When we say make a mess, or make a masterpiece we truly mean you are free to do what you want - we even let the kids draw and paint on the furniture!
