About Cogglesford Watermill
Cogglesford Mill is a traditional 18th century watermill that is thought to be the only Sheriff's mill that is still operating in England. Flour has been produced at this mill for over 1000 years! You can buy some of this organic stone ground wholemeal flour in the mill shop and try it for yourself, plus kids should enjoy cooking with something they have seen produced first hand. The river Slea and the mill pond are often filled with ducks and other waterfowl, adding to the traditional setting. The mill is open regularly for visits, but can actually be seen in operation on events days, where you can watch flour being made in the traditional way. Check online or contact the mill before you visit to find out when the next event will be held, as it is great to see the mill in action. The mill is well maintained and full of interesting artefacts to discover. You may wish to make a day of it by taking a stroll around the mill and perhaps stopping for a cream tea at the end.
