Battery Park
Greenock, Glasgow and StrathclydeAbout Battery Park
Nestling in between Greenock and Gourock, Battery Park sits on the banks of the River Clyde and has a stunning view to the mountains of Argyll. It's become a very popular place with local joggers and dog walkers, plus it is also a favourite for mums and dads and grannies and granddads to spend a sunny Sunday afternoon with the smalls!
There are 2 children's adventure play areas full of fun equipment both classic and modern; a skateboard park ideal for beginners and 2 grass pitches for football and rugby. The park is also home to 2 of Inverclyde Leisure's astroturf pitches and a pavilion with toilet facilities and cafeteria.
Nearby, Gourock has a number of bars, cafes and restaurants, most of them with scenic views from patios and picture windows. There is another major park (Barshaw Park, see our listing) a short walk away which has a beautiful walled garden, pets corner and woodland walk.
All in all so long as you are sure to take along everything that you need (football, rugby ball, helmet, skateboard, bike, picnic, wipes and plasters: got that?) you'll be happy and comfy here for a long afternoon. Oh rats: and suncream!
