February Events And Things to Do

Listen up families, it’s time you made your way to The Postal Museum for an unmissable family day out and fun-filled February half-term!

There’s so much to discover here, like the Mail Rail where you can uncover the story of the postal service beneath the streets of London or how about climbing a miniature train into the original tunnels? For an interactive day out, we think you should explore their exhibits that bring 500 years of engineering and postal history to life!

For February half-term you’ll discover whole host of activities for the kids. It’s time to let their creativity shine with arts and crafts with the Mini Designers, where they an create their own postal uniform, or design their own good deed patch in the Mini Makers exhibit! Psst…all the arts and crafts activities are included in The Postal Museum admission!

Please note places will be allocated on a first come first served basis and children must be accompanied by an adult. 

Then settle down for a storytelling session inspired by their special exhibit, Dressed to Deliver, to storytelling sessions on the postal journey through time.

Finally, your little ones can immerse themselves in Sorted! The Postal Play Space, where they can play in a mini-town with streets, buildings, trolleys, pulleys, slides and chutes. Everything to keep the little ones happily occupied!

You can book a Sorted! session without visiting the museum (from £4.00 and under 6 months go free), or you can purchase tickets for both experiences. Once you have added a museum ticket to your basket, you’ll automatically be able to book Sorted! on the next page.

Marvel at world-class collections that span across time and planets at The Ulster Museum in Belfast. Learn about 1920s fashion or get up close to a moon rock. Ponder the etchings of famous artists like ‘A Unique Silence’ or celebrate the coinage of Ireland. There are even dance exhibitions being hosted in early March too!

Currently, there are lots of fun events taking place at the Ulster Museum. Check out artworks from the 1870s and onwards in the Light from the West exhibition. Browse the promising art pieces from NI students in the True Colours exhibit or get down to some scientific research in the Light, Matter, Action event.

There are lots of special events and themed activities on offer throughout the year – not just in February – so get booking your tickets and quench your thirst for knowledge!

Fill up your February weekends with lots of soul-nourishing meals at The Pitt!

Established in 2015, this popular and award-winning street food market holds events every weekend and it’s FREE entry! You can also check out craft beer stalls, vintage clothing, and record stores, and watch live music and other acts.

The Luxmuralis light shows have returned to Carlisle Cathedral after their successful annual events at Christmas time. This show is entirely different to Lincoln Cathedral with an entirely different theme…

The space inside will be transformed by colourful projections and soundscapes as visitors journey from the outside of the Fratry, into the Tullie House and Carlisle Cathedral transforming and enveloping each space.

Wondering how to embrace the cold nights in February? There’s nothing more surreal than staring deep into the icy Winter skies and pondering what exists beyond us.

At the Kielder Observatory, kids can get involved in all kinds of fun family activities and inspiring talks like Relaxed Astronomy, Introduction to Astronomy, Discovering New Worlds, Origins of the Universe, Young Explorers and so much more! There are even Astrophotography sessions too!

Different sessions run every single day throughout the year which is what makes this attraction so wonderful for families. However, this is a very popular attraction so make sure to book your tickets in advance!

Root around for natural materials and create your own February flower at Bodnant Garden in Conwy! Wrap up warm and head to the Fairy House for some crafty family fun.

Have some Maritime family fun at Portsmouth Historic Dockyard this half term and witness the Marvellous Mary Rose – The flagship that served Henry VIII during the Battle of the Solent in 1545!!!
