WeJam - The Family Rockband Experience
London, Greater LondonAbout WeJam - The Family Rockband Experience
Taking immersive experiences to a whole new level, WeJam is a first-of-its-kind recording studio where rockstars are born — no matter their age. The concept is simple: gather your family or group of friends, decide on a band name, choose your instruments, then spend the next 90 minutes rehearsing and performing your favourite pop and rock songs, even if nobody has ever picked up an instrument before. It's like Guitar Hero, but with real instruments, real recordings, and a real studio — and it's an absolute blast for families.
How it works
With help from some clever technology developed by WeJam, complete beginners only need to play one note at a time. Each player follows a colour-coded system on the screen in front of them that shows exactly which note to play and when. Hit the right notes and you'll "unlock" the more complex riffs, beats, and melodies from the original song — so even first-timers sound genuinely impressive from the very first attempt. A professional musician is in the room throughout the session, acting as your band's producer. They're there to help everyone from nervous beginners to budding rock legends, adjusting the difficulty for each player individually. More experienced family members can freestyle on their instrument or try a harder difficulty level, which makes WeJam brilliant for groups where ages and abilities vary wildly. Mum on drums, Dad on bass, the kids fighting over the keytar — everyone plays together, everyone sounds good, and everyone has a laugh.
Scoring, competition and recordings
Every note gets logged, which means family members can compete for the highest score on each performance — expect some serious sibling rivalry. You'll play through several songs during your session, building confidence and getting better with each one. At the end, recordings of every song are emailed to you so you can relive the experience and share it with everyone who wasn't there. It's the ultimate souvenir — and possibly the best evidence you'll ever have that your 7-year-old can hold down a guitar solo.
The secret entrance
Finding the studio is all part of the fun, and it starts before you even pick up an instrument. After entering the ordinary-looking guitar shop at street level in Camden, find a member of staff and tell them the secret password: "I'm here with the band." If you pass the test, you'll be led down a staircase and through a hidden door disguised as a Marshall amplifier stack. Behind it, your very own recording studio awaits, complete with neon lights, a full stage setup, microphones, drums, keyboards, and guitars. Take a moment to imagine all the legendary bands that have stood and recorded in this exact spot. Kids absolutely love the theatrical entrance, and it sets the tone for an experience that feels genuinely special from the moment you arrive.
What ages is it suitable for?
WeJam is suitable for ages 7 and up. Children under 16 must be accompanied by an adult. The colour-coded system is intuitive enough for younger children to pick up quickly, and the professional musician in the room gives extra help to anyone who needs it. Teenagers particularly love it — it's hard to find activities that genuinely engage that age group, and WeJam consistently delivers. Several families have described it as the perfect activity for hard-to-please teens.
Birthday parties and celebrations
WeJam makes for a brilliantly different birthday party. Imagine your child and their friends forming their own rock band, choosing a band name, competing for the highest score, and going home with actual recordings of their performances. Groups of up to 8 can play together in a single session. For larger parties or family gatherings, back-to-back sessions are available, or you can try the Battle of the Bands format where two groups compete head to head. For the full rockstar experience, you can also make your very own "rider" requests — a list of food, drink, and miscellaneous demands inspired by the outrageous backstage requests of pop and rock legends.
What to expect on the day
Sessions last 90 minutes. Please arrive just before your session starts, as unfortunately sessions cannot be extended beyond the time booked. All instruments and equipment are provided — just bring yourselves and a sense of adventure. You'll choose which instruments to play when you arrive, and you can switch instruments between songs if you fancy trying something different. The song catalogue includes a wide range of well-known pop and rock tracks that most families will recognise, from classic anthems to modern hits.
Getting there
WeJam is located inside Camden Guitars at 23 Chalk Farm Road, NW1 8AG. The nearest tube station is Chalk Farm (Northern Line), is just a short walk away. Camden Town station is also within easy walking distance. Camden itself is a fantastic destination for a full family day out — before or after your session you can explore the world-famous Camden Market, grab street food from dozens of international vendors, walk along the canal, or browse the quirky independent shops that line the high street. Combining WeJam with a wander around Camden makes for a genuinely memorable day.
Indoor activity — rain or shine
As a fully indoor experience, WeJam is completely weather-proof. The underground studio is climate-controlled and comfortable year round, making it an ideal option for rainy days, cold weekends, or any time you need a plan that doesn't depend on the British weather cooperating.
Please note
The studio is located in a basement accessed via stairs, so unfortunately it is not currently wheelchair or buggy accessible. If you have any accessibility questions, please get in touch with the team before booking.
The world's only rock band experience for families
There is nowhere else in the world where your family can walk in as complete beginners and walk out sounding like a real rock band. Our pioneering technology fills in the gaps automatically — play the right notes and you'll unlock the full riffs, beats and melodies from the original song. Mum on drums, Dad on bass, kids on guitar — everyone plays together on real instruments and everyone sounds genuinely amazing from the very first song. It's like Guitar Hero, but real.
Professional recordings of every song you perform
Every single performance during your session is recorded and emailed to you afterwards — completely free of charge. Share them with grandparents, post them on social media, or just relive the moment your 7-year-old nailed their first guitar solo. Most family activities give you photos at best. WeJam gives you an actual album of songs your family performed together, and it's yours to keep forever. It's the ultimate souvenir from a day out.
Perfect for groups with mixed ages and abilities
Every player's difficulty level is adjusted individually, so complete beginners and confident musicians can play together in the same band. Beginners follow a simple colour-coded system — just play one note at a time and the technology does the heavy lifting. More experienced players can freestyle, crank up the difficulty, or show off with solos. That makes WeJam ideal for families where a 7-year-old, a teenager, and a parent all have completely different skill levels. A professional musician is in the room throughout to help everyone.
