Tollymore Forest Park is a visual feast for nature lovers. As you step into the park, you'll be greeted by a forest environment filled with a diverse landscape of towering trees, winding rivers, and panoramic views of the Mourne Mountains. You'll find a mature conifer forest where tree lovers won't want to leave! If you head further inward, you may find more exotic trees too, like the remains of a giant redwood tree that was struck by lightning! Not to mention stunning views of the sea!
The park's waymarked trails offer a variety of walking and hiking routes suitable for all ages and fitness levels, making it a perfect spot for a leisurely family stroll or a more challenging hike! Kids will love the sense of adventure that comes with exploring the forest paths and discovering hidden gems like the mysterious stepping stones over the Shimna River. Or you can drive past the dramatic Shimna Gorge!
There are 4 to choose from: the Blue Trail which is half a mile, the Red Trail which is 3 miles, the Black Trail which is 5 and a half miles and Black Trail 1 which is 3 miles. Each trail offers dramatic views and wanders through the rocky outcrops, cross slope, distinct hills and Shimna River. You'll pass over stepping stones and walk on a couple of bridges as you enjoy a fun-filled and adventurous day out with the entire family.
There are countless trails through the common trees and the beech woodland where you can really take a step back from the hustle and bustle of busy life.

Tollymore Forest Park is steeped in history, adding an educational twist to your visit. The park was once part of the estate of the Earl of Roden, and you'll find remnants of its aristocratic past throughout the grounds.

By Car:
From Belfast, take the A24 south to Clough Village, then join the A2 Newcastle Road. Just past Dundrum, the forest park is signposted to the right.
From Newcastle, follow the signposted route from the Central Promenade towards Bryansford Village. After about two miles the forest park is signposted on the left.
